Overview
Stack Overflow's OverflowAI leverages the power of artificial intelligence to help users locate answers, refine and generate content, improve code, and much more. Stack Overflow for Teams Enterprise (SOE) includes OverflowAI as a core product feature. This guide shows you how to control your users' access to OverflowAI.
OverflowAI Admin settings
To enable, disable, and configure OverflowAI, click OverflowAI in your SOE site's left-hand menu.
The OverflowAI admin page has three main sections, one for each component of OverflowAI.
Enhanced search
OverflowAI's Enhanced search feature uses AI to summarize search results in your SOE site. In addition to quickly finding the content they need, users can save the summary and turn it into a new question and answer on your SOE site. This captures the AI-generated content to benefit other users.
Click Configure to control user access to OverflowAI Enhanced search. The OverflowAI access settings page will appear.
To turn on OverflowAI, click the control to toggle it on. To turn off OverflowAI or restrict access to certain users, click the control to toggle it off. This will turn off OverflowAI for all users unless you grant specific access.
Grant access to specific users
To allow only selected users access to OverflowAI, enter each name into the Select users box. When you see the correct name in the search results, click on it to select it. You can add as many individual users as you like.
Grant access to user groups
You can also use the Select users box to locate user groups. Enter the name of a user group. When you see the group name in the search results, click on it to select it. You can add user groups and individual users in any combination and quantity.
Remove access to users or groups
To remove users or groups from the access list, click X next to the user or group name.
Stack Overflow for Visual Studio Code
The Stack Overflow for Visual Studio Code feature can search your private SOE site, the public Stack Overflow site, and the internet at large. This allows the feature to access vast amounts of information to provide explanations, insights, and potential answers to your search questions—right inside Visual Studio Code.
The Stack Overflow for Visual Studio Code extension has no admin settings. All users who install the Visual Studio Code extension can use the Stack Overflow for Visual Studio Code features. To learn more about the extension, click Learn more.
Auto-Answer App for Slack and Microsoft Teams
The OverflowAI Auto-Answer App for Slack and Auto-Answer App for Microsoft Teams have two features: auto-answer turns each new channel post into a search of your SOE site; thread summary creates an AI-generated summary of a chat thread that users can post back to your SOE site.
After setting up the SOE Slack or MS Teams integrations, all users will be able to use the OverflowAI Auto-Answer App features. To configure either of the integrations, click the corresponding Set up button.
